How we assess

The CAMP framework.

Capital. Advantage. Market. People. Our investment framework for examining strategic technologies, their route to adoption and the companies building them.

Independent thinking. Decisive capital.

Technology becomes investable when capital, advantage, market and people make one case.

From capability to investment case

CAMP examines the four pillars together. It structures the questions, exposes missing evidence and shows where the case holds and where it breaks.

Each pillar is weighted for the company’s stage, so a pre-seed company is not judged as if it were at Series A.

Principles

A structure for judgment, not a substitute.

  • Evidence-led

Grounded in observable progress. Unverified assumptions are made visible.

  • Stage-aware

The evidence expected matches the company’s technical and commercial maturity.

  • Decision-focused

Shows what must be learned, and which milestones would change the view.

  • Human judgment

The framework informs the review. Our investment team makes the decision.

The four pillars

What we examine, and why.

Capital · Capital to milestone

What must this money prove?

Development, testing and deployment need different kinds of capital. We examine what this round must prove and what it takes to get there.

A credible plan allows for slower adoption, integration work and the financing needed after the first milestone.

  • Cash runway and financing needs
  • Development and deployment costs
  • Milestone and downside plan
  • Capital structure and future funding

Advantage · Technical edge and defensibility

What makes the technology hard to replace?

We examine the performance that matters to the user, and the evidence behind it. A strong demonstration is where technical diligence starts, not where it ends.

The advantage has to survive real operating conditions, competing alternatives and the cost of integration.

  • Performance under relevant conditions
  • Proprietary technology and know-how
  • Integration and switching costs
  • Limits, dependencies and replicability

Market · Buyer, adoption and demand

Who will adopt it, and who will pay?

Commercial and national-security markets often have different users, buyers and purchasing paths. We separate interest in a capability from a decision to buy it.

We examine the budget owner, deployment requirements, sales cycle and whether demand repeats. Strategic importance is not evidence of revenue.

  • User and budget owner
  • Commercial and national-security use cases
  • Procurement and adoption path
  • Repeatability and market expansion

People · Technical depth and execution

Can this team deliver it?

We look for the expertise to build the technology and the judgment to build a business around it. Understanding the customer matters as much as technical depth.

Integrity, a record of delivery and the willingness to revise assumptions are central. Gaps in commercial, operational or governance capability should be stated, not hidden.

  • Technical and domain expertise
  • Delivery and customer understanding
  • Integrity and governance
  • Complementary skills and hiring needs

Reading a score

What a score means, and what it does not.

A score summarizes an assessment. It is not a probability of success or a commitment to invest. The evidence behind it still has to be verified.
